FAQs

FAQs:
What ages do you teach?
- I have taught young children, teenagers, and adults. I don't really have a set age.

What is your pricing?
- I prefer to discuss this with my customers directly. I can tell you pricing is reasonable, fair, and competitive. Please email me at dcgl@sasktel.net so I can provide you with a quote.

Do you offer discounts?
-
Yes; there is a written agreement or verbal contract a student or student's guardian can sign for a month (or a total of 4 weeks). When this agreement is reached, it solidifies my employment, so I discount a percentage for the month.
- I also charge less if you would like to take the lessons at my house.

- If you refer someone to me who starts to take lessons I will offer a discount to you as well.

Do you prefer an agreement?
- Verbal or written contracts will be considered.
- Any good business owner or employee prefers to have stability and reliability in their job.

How do you take payment?
- I take cash or cheque payments before I provide the lesson. When a schedule is decided upon, there are some allowances, but keep in mind that this is a business and timely payments and appointments are essential to keep it running.

What if I change my mind about my schedule, or something comes up where I need to cancel/postpone the appointment?  What about stat holidays?
- Please keep in mind that I normally have a very organized and full schedule. I have several students that are reliable with appointments and payments. I also usually travel to their houses in a certain section of the city each day and need to add traveling time as well as preparation time for each lesson. It is likely that I can't change the scheduling agreed upon in our first meeting/phone call.
- Just like any business, I need a minimum of 24 hour's notice (more if possible) if there is a change to the schedule. It is not good business if lessons are persistently delayed/canceled without notice, or without being made up for with a longer lesson. I reserve the right to make an honest living, so if my student is not reliable with notice and appointments, the sessions may not continue.

- Usually in the case of a statutory holiday as will sickness or other reason for missing a lesson, I will either offer an hour lesson on the previous/next regularly scheduled lesson (1 lesson with 60 min = 2 X 30 min sessions), or I can do a 45 minute lesson for the previous/next two lessons (the 15 minutes extra for two sessions will still add up to 30 min). Either way I am making up for the lesson with the student and still fulfilling my four 30 minute sessions. I am willing to work with the student/student's guardian to the best of my ability to keep the contract.  I do prefer to have two 45 minute lessons because an entire hour leaves little time for resting the student's hand (especially for beginners or younger musicians).  I prefer two 45 minute sessions because an hour can cause a student's hand to get tired.  Sometimes an hour lesson can be too much information all at once, as well.
- To be fair, if anything happens on my end (vacation, sickness, unforeseen problems), I will not charge for the lesson missed if we can't make up for the time lost.
